Our Unique Approach
Our approach is to help women to improve their hormone balance. A carefully selected mix of herbal medication can lift AMH levels while bringing down FSH. In men, our efforts are focused on improving sperm count, sperm motility, sperm morphology and reducing anti-sperm anti-bodies.

An evidence based approach
We use the best and the most potent form of Chinese medicine i.e. tailor made dry herbs where you will need to brew into tea form to use. Each time you come, we will check you out (by traditional diagnostic methods i.e. Asking detailed questions, tongue reading, pulse reading etc.) to establish your progress so far. It is for this reason that you would need to see us once every 4/5 weeks. The first course of treatment will involve seeing us 3 times. You may then re test your hormones or sperm to check progress.
Our treatment is evidence based as we routinely ask for hormone, sperm and other relevant test results prior to treatment. These will form the baselines for you to re-check after the first course of treatment. the improvement on test results are the evidence that the treatment has worked for the overwhelming majority of our patients.
The treatment has no harmful side effects since we only use natural herbs and we carefully choose a tailor made combination (not single herbs) each time according to your condition.
When you are on our treatment programme, it is not necessary to use other modes of treatment or supplements.
What treatments do we offer?
We offer a range of fertility treatment programmes using herbal remedy and acupuncture.
The treatments range from helping women to conceive, to reducing their chances of a miscarriage and men to improve their sperm quantity and quality.
Acupuncture treatment programme
This usually involves attending our Fertility Clinic once a week in central London. Acupuncture points are selected according to individual diagnosis. These may change during the course of treatment as your condition progresses. Continuous assessment and monitoring ensure that the treatment programme is tailor-made to suit your individual requirements.
Chinese herbal remedy fertility treatment programme
This usually involves attending our Fertility Clinic once a month. For women, we will prescribe a combination of herbs which must be taken at specific points in your menstrual cycle. This requirement will not be necessary for male patients. The herbs will need to be prepared into herbal drinks and taken twice a day for a fixed number of days. The combination will be modified according to the progress made following monthly check up visits.
Who can benefit from our treatments?
Women who want to conceive naturally
Just under half of our female patients would like to conceive naturally. You will usually be on a 3 to 9 months treatment programme.
Since 2000, we have treated cases involving the following:- unexplained infertility, infertility due to a range of conditions including: High FSH, endometriosis, PCOS, hormonal imbalances, low ovarian reserve (low AMH), low sperm count, low sperm motility, poor sperm morphology, sperm antibodies, to name but a few. We have also successfully helped some patients who had signs of early menopause. Click here to learn more.
Women who want to improve AMH
Every woman is born with a limited number of cells that can ripen into mature ova. These cells deteriorate with age and therefore older women become less fertile. A low AMH reading means your ovarian reserve is low. It is usually assumed that AMH is part of the ageing process and that it therefore cannot be reversed. However, there is some recent clinical evidence that AMH decline is reversible and a limited amount of data has been reported sporadically across the globe by reputable specialists in this field. The actual mechanics in scientific terms, as to how this occurs, are as yet unclear as there is not sufficient research in this field. Our clinic aims to balance hormones and improve the capacity of reproductive organ functions including ovarian functions, which we see as the main issues confronting women with low AMH ands poor egg quality. At TCM healthcare, we have extensive track record in improving AMH. Click here to learn more.
Women who want to improve FSH
Each female is born with a limited number of cells that can ripen into mature ova. If the ovary has many eggs, the FSH in a woman’s blood is low because the body doesn’t need to work hard to get a normal ovulation. If the egg number is low, the body needs to work harder to induce ovulation, so it increases the amount of FSH in an effort to stimulate the ovaries. A high FSH means the egg number is reduced – sometimes to levels so low that pregnancy is not possible. An FSH level of 10 or over is considered to be poor. At TCM healthcare, we have extensive track record in improving FSH. Click here to learn more.
Women who have PCOS
PCOS is a major cause of infertility. Between 1 in 10 to 1 in 20 women have PCOS. Women who have PCOS are found to have excess androgen and irregular periods. We have extensive experience in treating PCOS. Our treatment aims to restore regular periods and hormonal imbalance. Some women have found that their PCOS disappear as confirmed by scan by specialists. Click here to learn more.
Women who have failed IVF cycles
More than half of our female patients come to us with failed IVF cycles. They ask us to get them more prepared before they start another cycle of IVF. The treatment in most cases will take about 3 months. A retest of hormones show an overwhelming number of patients have lower FSH and higher AMH which combined with better result in antral follicle count suggest they have better egg quality. They also feel fitter, less stressed and more positive. Click here to learn more.
Women who have miscarriages
The highest number of miscarriages a patient of ours had was 9 before she came to us for treatment and subsequently successfully delivered a baby. Typically, women have 1 to 3 miscarriages before they come to us. They either have had failed IVF (failed implanting) or failed to carry their babies to full term. They usually come for treatment for about 3 to 4 months and once they become pregnant, they return one more time for a prescription to stabilise the pregnancy. In our experience of the last 16 years, We have never experienced a patient losing a baby after conception if they manage to return in time to receive a stabilising prescription. Women who have endometriosis
It is estimated about 6 to 10% of women of a reproductive age suffer from endometriosis. This affects some 2 million women in the UK between the ages of 25 and 40. Endometriosis is deemed to be one of the main reasons for infertility. At TCM HealthCare, we aim to first deal with symptoms such as painful and heavy periods. We will then seek to arrest and in some cases reverse its development. Some of our successful cases have been documented in national media. Click here to learn more.
Women who have hormonal imbalance and irregular periods
Some women find their menstrual cycle isn’t always regular. Their periods may be early or late, and may vary in how long they last or how heavy they are each time. Many factors can cause a hormone imbalance, from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to extreme weight loss and excessive exercise. Irregular periods may also mean anovulation thereby causing infertility. At TCM HealthCare, we have extensive experience in restoring the balance of hormones using natural herbs. Some of these data have been seen and confirmed by IVF specialists. Click here to learn more.
Women who want to improve their egg quality before egg freezing and IVF
An increasing number of patients are opting for egg freezing before they turn 40. Although there is no direct test for egg quality, the scientific literature suggests that AMH test and astral follicle scan combined will give a reasonable indication for egg quality. Since we are able to improve AMH, our treatment is likely to impact on egg quality positively. Better egg quality is of course vital for better chances of success with IVF. Click here to learn more.
Women who are going through perimenopause
Perimenopause begins some years before menopause. It’s the time when the ovaries gradually begin to make less oestrogen. In the last one to two years of perimenopause, the drop in oestrogen speeds up. Contrary to popular opinions, the ovaries at this stage are still well endowed with follicles while these endocrinal changes are taking place. What is more, a woman’s eggs do not have an expired date. They respond to the their surroundings just as the rest of our bodily systems do. Our ovaries and eggs respond negatively to poor diet, drugs, toxins and stress hormones and positively to a health diet and lifestyle. If goes without saying that you can go some way to improve your chances by enhancing your general well being. Some women however may need or would like to seek treatment. At TCM HealthCare, we have a good track record in deal with with perimenopausal symptoms and improve hormonal changes that are associated with perimenopause. Click here to learn more.
Women who suffer from severe period pain and/or PMS
Although period pain is usually accepted by women as a normal part of menstrual cycle, our clinical experience suggest that period pain, especially severe pain is associated with issues of the reproductive system. What is more, while some of these issues can be detected and diagnosed by conventional medicine, many women are not given answers or solutions and this can go on for many years. PMS refers to a condition that is associated with two broad types of symptoms. First is emotional which can include stress, anxiety, difficulty with sleep, headache, feeling tired, mood swings, increased emotional sensitivity, and changes in interest in sex. Second is physical which could include bloating, lower back pain, abdominal cramps, constipation/diarrhea, swelling or tenderness in the breasts, cyclic ance, and joint or muscle pain, and food cravings. We believe severe period pain and PMS ay impact on fertility. At TCM healthCare, we have helped many women to deal with severe period pain and/or PMS. Click here to learn more
Women who are diagnosed with primary ovarian failure/early menopause
Premature ovarian failure (POF), also known as premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), or primary ovarian insufficiency is the loss of function of the ovaries before age 40. POF is diagnosed when a woman does not have periods, has abnormally high level of FSH and has abnormally low level of Oestrogen. At TCM HealthCare, we have a good track record in treating this condition, the success of which means that FSH is lowered and the natural period cycles come back without the use of drugs to induce cycles. Men who have poor sperm count and quality
Men with poor sperm count and quality often find themselves at a loss. Western medical colleagues openly admit that other than structural issues such as missing vas deferens or varicocele and discarding risk factors such as cancer, there is essentially no reliable medication that can help to improve sperm count, sperm motility, sperm morphology or reducing anti-sperm anti-bodies. But using Chinese medicine, we routinely improve sperm count, motility, morphology and anti-sperm anti-body successfully. Click here to learn more.
Men who suffer from erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a very common condition, particularly in older men. It is estimated that half of all men between the ages of 40 and 70 will have it to some degree. Premature ejaculation (PE) means coming too quickly, and it’s one of the most common male sexual problems. PE can be a cause of real distress to the man. Also, partners of men with premature ejaculation can become extremely frustrated. This condition can be a major factor in the break-up of marriages. At TCM HealthCare, we have treated a good majority of male patients with both ED and PE issues successfully using natural remedies.
