TCM HealthCare offers a fertility clinic (success rate 45% for female infertility and 80% for male infertility) using acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine based in Harley Street, London.
It is led by Professor Li, Honorary professor at the prestigious Acadamy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing. He was senior lecturer at the WHO International Acupuncture Training Centre in Beijing prior to coming to Britain to practice over 10 years ago. Among
his many publications, he was one of the authors of the standard textbook entitled 'Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion' (1987) used at the WHO International Acupuncture Centre.
Professor Li has a longstanding interest in gynaecology and fertility and has been running TCM HealthCare Fertility Clinic since its inception in 2000.
Harley Street TCM Fertility clinic has a success rate of 45% for all female clients and 80% for male clients. Of the successful cases, about 60% are women between 36 and 40, around 20% are women between 35 and 40. Another 20% are aged 40 and over. Of the male clients, the mean agae is about 38.
Over the last 9 years, we have treated cases involving the following:- unexplained infertility, infertility due to a range of conditions including endometriosis, PCOS, other hormonal imbalances, low ovarian reserve, low sperm count, low sperm mobility, sperm antibodies, to name but a few. We have also successfully helped some patients who had signs of early menopause.
In addition, We have assisted patients who wished to combine western assisted conception techniques such as IVF with Chinese medicine fertility treatments.

This usually involves attending our Fertility clinic once a week in central London. Acupuncutre points are selcted according to individual diagnosis. These may change during the course of treatment as you make progress. Continuous diagnosis and monitoring ensure that the treatment programme is tailored made to suit your individual circumstances.
This usually involves attending our Fertility Clinic once a month. Combinations of herbs are prescribed around menstrual cycles. These are modified during monthly visits to ensure they are tailored made to patients' individual circumstances and as you make progress. Herbs precribed are very safe. We only use herbs approved by the British Medicine Control Agency. In addition, being a specialist clinic, herbs are carfully chosen to ensure they are absolutely safe to babies as many of our patients become pregnant during the course of treatment.
This involves using acupuncture and herbs either consecutively or concurrently when this is thought to be the best treatment option for some patients. Usually acupuncture and herbs are used consecutively to minimise costs. When they are used concurrently, we discuss and explain to you why this is recommended, for how long and the costs involved.
We work with patients who choose to combine acupuncture fertility treatment with IVF or other assisted conception techniques such as ICSI. This may be a preferred method as research has shown (please see Fertility Clinic page on research on TCM and fertility for more details) that acupcunture may enhance chances of success in assited conception. In addition, when synthetic hormones are used, they may confound with herbal medicine. It is best to avoid using herbal medicine when synthetic hormones are used. We therefore recommend acupucnture when patients are going through with IVF or other assisted conception techniques.
When patients are planning to go for IVF and BEFORE receiving synthetic hormones, it is safe to use herbal emdicine to improve your reproducive system. The treatment is targeted at patients who are at this stage of their IVF treatment programme.
This treatment programme targets male patients with low sperm count and/or low sperm motility. As with clinics for female patients, we have an excellent treatment record on this. Our most recent cases involves patients where their sperm counts wwere enhanced 3 to 10 times, sperm motility from a 20% increase to nearly doubled and anti-bodies eliminated.
